5 Essential Oils Every Beginner Should Have on the Shelf
If you've ever stood in the oil aisle feeling overwhelmed — you're not alone. There are hundreds of essential oils, each with its own personality, but you really only need a handful to get going.
Here are the five we'd hand a friend who was just starting:
1. Lavender — the universal soother. Diffuse before bed, dilute on the temples for tension, drop into a linen spray. If you only buy one oil, make it this.
2. Lemon — the kitchen workhorse. Cuts grease in surface sprays, lifts the mood when diffused, brightens any blend. We go through bottles of it.
3. Peppermint — the wake-up artist. A drop on the back of the neck for an afternoon slump. Cooling, sharp, alive.
4. Eucalyptus — the head-cold friend. Steam inhalation when you're stuffy, shower melts when you need to breathe deeper.
5. Sweet Orange — the happiness oil. Sunshine in a bottle. Pairs with almost everything and always lifts a room.
With these five, you can make sleep rollers, surface sprays, focus diffuser blends, congestion steam — basically every starter recipe. Add a Hearth & Home blend for cozy fall days, and you've got a real little apothecary going.
Start small. Use them often. The rest will follow.
