A FEW PRACTICAL USES FOR ESSENTIAL OILS

Let’s talk about some practical and effective ways to use essential oils in your home and office:

Aromatherapy Diffusers: Use a diffuser to fill your space with calming scents. Try lavender for relaxation, eucalyptus for clarity, or citrus oils for an energizing boost. Your coworkers will thank you (or maybe just be less grumpy).

Essential Oil Cleaning Spray: Combine water, vinegar, and a few drops of tea tree oil for a natural cleaning solution. Not only will your surfaces sparkle, but your home will smell fresh and inviting! Another idea for a linen spray or room spray: You will need a small funnel, large measuring cup, mixing spoon, 3 ounces unflavored vodka (or rubbing alcohol), 20 to 30 drops essential oil(s) of your choice, 1 1/2 cups distilled water, Amber glass or opaque plastic spray bottle (at least 16 oz.), small label sticker and pen (optional). Instructions: Mix Vodka and Essential Oil, pour 3 ounces of vodka into a large measuring cup. If you don't have vodka on hand, you can substitute it with rubbing alcohol found at most drugstores. If you use rubbing alcohol for a linen spray this requires a bit more shaking to mix the ingredients each time you want to use it. Now, carefully add 20 to 30 drops of your favorite essential oil to the measuring cup. If using a blend of oils, have fun and experiment with as many drops of each oil until you create your preferred scent. Add 1 1/2 cups of distilled water to the measuring cup, and thoroughly mix the vodka, oil, and water together using a spoon. With the top of the spray bottle open using the small funnel, pour the vodka, oil, and water mixture into the bottle. Screw the top back onto the bottle. Attach a small label sticker to your linen spray bottle so you don't forget what's inside. Consider writing down the recipe you created so you will easily be able to replicate it in the future. Write down also the date you made the spray. Remember exposure to heat and light can cause the oils to degrade faster, so use a tinted bottle and store your spray in a cool, dark spot. Before each use give your creation a gentle shake before every use. Then, lightly spray the fabric. The scent should last a few days. NOTES: If using rubbing alcohol instead of vodka for the spray be prepared for a stronger smell. If you do not have vodka or rubbing alcohol you can substitute a scentless witch hazel. If reusing a spray bottle wash so it does not have any lingering odors as they might mix with your creation and not be the pleasant scent you wanted. Please consider using a glass bottle over plastic, as odors and residues are less likely to seep into the material. Linen sprays last about six months to a year when properly stored. When the spray starts to smell off to you, it's time to replace it. Some information is courtesy of The Spruce, Simply Earth, DC Gift World Too.

Scented Candles: Create your own candles using essential oils. Not only will they smell amazing, but you can customize them to match your mood or the season. Who doesn’t want a pumpkin spice candle in July?

DIY Room Spray: Mix water, witch hazel, and your favorite essential oil in a spray bottle for a quick room refresher. Perfect for those moments when you realize you forgot to take out the trash!

Essential Oil Bath Soak: Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to your bath for a relaxing soak. Lavender is great for winding down, while peppermint can help soothe sore muscles after a long day.
